You too can learn to play the guitar -and I can help you!
I'm a guitarist from Venezuela now residing in the U. K. for many years.. I studied Classical Guitar with Leopoldo Igarza at the Escuela Superior de Música J A Lamas in Caracas, where I got a degree as a Profesor Ejecutante de Guitarra Clásica. On coming to the UK I studied with John W Duarte and took master classes with many distinguished masters of the instrument including Elliot Fisk, Ricardo Iznaola and Fabio Zanon. I am available for concerts, private recitals and tuition on the classical and electric guitar in the North and Central London areas. I teach classical, electric and acoustic guitar and can and do coach for ABRSM and Trinity grade exams up to and beyond Grade 8 as well as Rockschool and Trinity Rock&Pop. I love what I do and it makes me happy to be able to share my passion with others. Since starting as a professional Music Teacher so many years ago, I’ve been privileged to see so many students discover their natural skills and abilities and reach results they never dreamed were possible. If that sounds like something you’d like to explore, get in touch.

Working with Flavio has broadened my horizons as a guitar player and I have come away with so much more than I had imagined possible. He tailors the lessons to meet your personal objectives and he quickly ascertains your current level / standard. Each lesson brings a new challenge to push the boundaries and I am very pleased with my progress so far. Flavio has quite literally been there and done it all on guitar - whatever it is that you want to do, he can cater for it. That's a very rare quality indeed and I look forward to continuing my work with him.

Flavio is a wonderful music teacher, patient, knowledgeable and flexible. I’ve been a pupil of his since 2017, and going strong!
Great guitar teacher. Patient and encouraging. Gives very clear notes so that my daughter knows how to improve. Highly recommend!

Flavio has been teaching our (6y old) son for nearly a year now - he is a fantastic teacher, incredibly patient and he manages to maintain his attention (which is an achievement!). He has even been able to keep on Max going on Zoom since the start of the lockdown. Thanks to Flavio for continuing to nurture Max's passion!
Response from the owner:
Thank you Mylene for your very kind words. It's been a pleasure and a very stimulating experience -you learn a lot from your pupils, even beginners and I'm so glad Max is enjoying it (the most important bit) and making good progress.
• Clare Selby
Amazing teacher, my playing is really coming along nicely :)
Response from the owner:
Thank you -it helps that you are an amazing pupil :)
• Roger Smith:
I have been taking lessons with Flavio for some time. They have been unfailingly enjoyable and I have learnt an enormous amount, about music generally as well as the guitar. I would recommend him without hesitation.
• David Gardham:
I’d had a few guitar lessons at school (over 15 years ago!) and enjoyed playing guitar in my spare time. I decided it was time to take formal lessons as I was keen to develop my skills and knowledge further. I found Flavio randomly – but he has proved to be a fantastic teacher. He is knowledgeable, encouraging and inspiring- as well as an annoyingly good guitarist! I’m a classical player but he teaches a whole range of stuff. I’ve had lessons with Flavio for 18 months and am delighted with how my playing and theory has improved. But most importantly he’s helped me rediscover my passion for the guitar.
(David reached ABRSM Grade 8 in 2015 after only a couple of years taking lessons).

You probably don’t remember but one of the first pieces you taught me was the beautiful acoustic “is there anybody out there” I was in awe and thought my fingers will never be able to play that, then came Brouwer. Before I knew what was happening I was playing the lead from comfortably numb and working on Steve Vai, Van Halen, Johnny Marr and John Dowland!
